From mark at christchurch.nl Thu Sep 23 14:42:46 2010 From: mark at christchurch.nl (Mark Collinson) Date: Thu, 23 Sep 2010 16:42:46 +0200 Subject: [Disciples] Prayer requests update Message-ID: <79CFF639-CAC7-46FF-9107-1524A89BC32A@christchurch.nl> Dear people in prayer-triplets/duos, Here are some items for prayer: 1. City Centre had a guest service last Sunday to which many people were invited. South is having its Come As You Are Service on November 21st (!). Pray that people will be able to follow up last Sunday's guests and be praying about inviting guests for the coming service. Romans 1:16 says the gospel is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes. So let's pray that people can hear the gospel and ask Jesus for the gift of faith to believe it, and so be saved! We want more baptisms, Lord! 2. In South, there are two new set-up team leaders: Mike Bell and Marc Dunnewijk. Pray that keys will be transported between Sundays to the right places now that the 'key' people are more far flung, and that set-up teams can rejoice in their self-less service to the Lord. Pray also for Faustina setting up a 'Food' team to clear up after our Celebration Service lunches. 3. Pray for the Gift Day's coming up in October in City Centre and South. We want people to give because they appreciate how much the Lord has given them. Any lump sum gifts will reduce the ?120k mortgage we have to renegotiate. Christ Church will pay off ?20k from reserves and we're inviting church members to consider making a gift to reduce the remaining ?100k as much as possible. The more we reduce it, the more funds are available for ministry and getting both congregations large enough and healthy enough to consider a further church plant. 4. New Wine Training Day 6th November in Eindhoven. Alastair and Sophie will be heading up the Prayer Ministry at the New Wine Conference (8th-12th August 2011) and this training day in November is the main opportunity to receive teaching and training on how listen to God for others in prayer. If you go on this training day, you'll be eligible to apply to be on the Prayer Ministry team at the conference, and that will be an enormous privilege. So pray that many from our congregations will go to Eindhoven for the day. Rob Klok is co-ordinating registrations for South. 5. Marriage Course in South finished last Monday: Praise God for the couples who were on the marriage course led by Becky Moss and hosted by Cristina and Andre in Westwijk. Pray that the testimony of the people on the course will lead to others wanting to do the next one, scheduled for the new year. 6. Pray whilst at Work? Mark Nelson wants to set up a google map so that people from both congregations can find out whether they normally work close to someone else in church. One prayer duo already meets up in their lunch hour at WTC. Would you like to meet with someone for a quick bite and a pray? Pray that God would bless this initiative, and lead to more prayer triplets being established. 7. Pastoral Care: City Centre is seeking to develop a better system of pastoral care for such a diverse congregation. Pray for Rik Florentinus as he leads this initiative and for the congregation to be better at caring for each other. South has a fledgling pastoral care team which is trying to see who might be dropping through the gaps of the relational network we want to see developing as a loving caring body of Christ. Thank you for praying. Please feed non-confidential prayer requests to me, and answers to your prayers.
