This arrangement is fairly sparse.
It consists of the guitar part of Thompson's song "Hand of Kindness"
from the album of the same name (Hannibal/Rykodisc) plus an alternating bass line.
I have tried to be faithful to the original, but there are a couple of places
where the arrangement departs in (I hope) minor ways.

I have tried to keep the rhythm consistent:
one beat in a 4/4 measure takes up 8 characters in the tab.
In other words, a single character width represents a thirty-second note.
The words under the tab are kind of mushed together to attempt to show the timing of the lyrics.

On the record, Thompson plays an extended solo between the second chorus and verse 3.
He ends the song by repeating the chorus on verse 3,
and soloing over the groove while the song fades out.
When I play, I don't play a solo -- I go straight from verse 2 to verse 3 --
and I end the song by going back to the groove after the second verse 3 chorus,
and closing on the arpeggiated D7sus2 chord.

The chorus has a little more going on than I've transcribed here,
but the bass line is mostly hitting a Bb.
I play the riff and then a Bb on the low E and sometimes a D on the A string as well.

Here's Richard Thompson's "Jennie".
This version is the acoustic version from the "Watching in the Dark" anthology
and I haven't tested it against the studio version.
Some base runs not noted out cause they're different on every verse.
Capo on the 4th fret, but first, tune low E to D. All chords written as if in first position.

for lyrics to other verses see the album...
Verse accompaniment: First 8 measures are flexible:
keep the bass notes on the important beats, change the rest each verse.
Mm9-16 are played pretty much the same each time except m12 which changes each verse.

Note: This is only lyrics and some of the licks, not a complete transcription:
Help is welcomed.

(Capo 3rd fret to play with "Hokey Pokey" recording)
I'd really like detailed tab, if anyone has the patience
. This may well be played with an alternate tuning (low D???)
I sometimes play this using the alternate chords shown in parantheses.
